A “Hole in One” for the Athens Area Junior Golf Tour

T

he Athens Area Junior Golf Tour (AAJGT) came to us in need of a new website to promote their growing junior golf program. With junior golf being very near and dear to our hearts, we were more than happy – excited even – to help them with this fun project.

Founded just three years ago, the AAJGT already has a membership of over 200 junior golfers. The Tour needed a website where its players could go to view tournament schedules, register to play, locate golf courses, and stay up-to-date on Tour news. The site also needed to help recruit up-and-coming junior golfers by providing them with information about the Tour, how to become a member, the format of play for tournaments, Tour rules & regulations, and answers to frequently asked questions. It needed to be a tool for promoting the sponsors of the AAJGT – those local businesses whose contributions help support the Tour and the positive values golf brings to our youth. And last but certainly not least, the website had to be appealing to parents AND kids between the ages of 6 and 18.

We captured some really good, high quality photos of the players and courses. Having the players be “part” of the website (literally) was a fun way to involve them with the project and give them a more intimate relationship with the Tour. And to encourage further interaction between players at times when they’re not on the course competing with each other, we incorporated an Instagram feed onto the site where Tour staff, players and parents can have easy access to share their photos, comments and experiences, or even play games with the pictures.

We’re very proud of how the new Athens Area Junior Golf Tour website turned out. It’s informative and user friendly. It’s bright and colorful. It’s clean and easily expandable. It’s truly a “hole in one.”
